The United Kingdom’s (UK) Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has released its revised and amended the Guidance on the Use of cookies and Similar technologies (the “Guidance) on July 3, 2019. The newly published guidance is stricter and sets forth the criteria for the use of cookies or comparable techniques such as device fingerprinting and pixel tracking, with special emphasis on valid consent and privacy. Businesses subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are advised to make the necessary changes to their existing cookie practices.
